Assessment of the social and political situation in Ukraine. December 2013”

In the period from 23 to 27 of December 2013 the company Research & Branding Group conducted the public opinion poll of residents of Ukraine regarding their evaluation of the current situation in the country. Data was collected by means of personal interview in 24 oblasts of Ukraine, AR Crimea, cities of Kiev and Sevastopol. Respondents were chosen by quota sample representing the adult population by place of living (oblast) gender and age. The sample consists of 2079 persons. The expected average sample error is +2.2%. Data in percents 

In December 2013 43% of Ukrainians supported the integration of the country into EU and 30% - into the Customs Union. Every fifth resident of Ukraine (20%) would prefer to keep the current status of Ukraine.

A half of Ukrainians (50%) did not support Euromaydan in Kiev at the end of December, at the same time almost the equal number of respondents (45%) have an opposite opinion.

The largest part of residents of Ukraine (43%) think that the consequences of Euromaydan would be most probably negative. While 31% of Ukrainians have an opposite opinion, and 17% think that Euromaydan would have no effect.

About a half of Ukrainians (47%) in total positively assess the agreements of V. Yanukovich in Moscow about price reduction for gas and credit granting by Russia to Ukraine while 27% of the questioned have an opposite opinion and every fifth (19%) have indifferent attitude to agreements with Russia.

Every fifth Ukrainian (25%) on the nearest Sunday would vote at the presidential election for V. Yanukovich, 14% of voices would gain V. Klichko, 8% each – Ju. Timoshenko and P. Poroshenko, A. Yatsenyuk would complete the top five (5%).
