Eurasian monitor: Wave 9

Research was conducted from 18 to 30 April 2008

On June 26, 2008 «Research & Branding Group», together with Institute of political and ethno-national researches of I. F. Kuras National Academy of Science of Ukraine, together with International Agency of Research «Eurasian Monitor» and Intergovernmental fund of humanitarian collaboration between CIS countries held presentation of sociological research in post-soviet space on topic: «Mutual interests of CIS countries citizens as basis of integration: what makes us closer, what we are interesting for?»

Research was held in Ukraine on 18.04 -30.04.2008.
Selection: 2019 respondents from 24 regions of Ukraine and the Crimea
Selection mistake ± 2,2%

Presentation’s participants presented the results of Wave 9 of mass people questioning in 13 countries of CIS and Baltic states since April to May 2008 as part of the «Eurasian monitor» project. The research was held by the Non-commercial partnership «International Agency of Research «Eurasian monitor» with the help of Intergovernmental fund of humanitarian collaboration between CIS countries.

Basis of the research «Eurasian monitor» (www.eurasiamonitor.org) is holding regular (every 6 months) synchronized questionings of post-soviet countries population due to the single questionnaire (form). Single form consists of 2 parts:
1. Constant (monitoring) part, which includes questions about social position and urgent problems, different branches of power attitude, also integration attitude;
2. Variable (subject) part, which includes questions on one single topic changing from one project to another (for example, cultural connections, political and pre-election orientations of the population etc.).

Subject part of Wave 9 was researching «Mutual interests of CIS countries citizens as basis of integration: what makes us closer< what we are interesting for ».

The primary aim of the research was to find spheres of general interests of former Soviet Union countries population, which could be a foundation for integration processes activation (education, culture, sport, tourism, migration, job etc.).
Sponsor of the subject part of the research «Eurasian monitor» Wave 9 was Intergovernmental fund of humanitarian collaboration between CIS countries (www.mfgs-sng.org).
Results of the research turned to be rather interesting. Details will be given in the reports of the representatives of the participating countries «Eurasian monitor».

Famous political scientists, sociologists, culture experts, public personalities, supreme power and business structures representatives took part in the research; they shared their opinions about integration and humanitarian collaboration between CIS countries and Baltic states.
